Thanks Rick. I considered stopping down for a little more DoF but I was already at 1/20 second and didn't have a tripod with me. On balance, I liked the way the loss of sharpness separated the foreground/background in the bag giving it some three-dimensionality, but I can certainly see the same photo taken with deep DoF as well.
