OK, it seems an International warranty card is of no problem at all (see Godfrey's link) Of course warranty would be one year instead of two in Europe but better than nothing, for sure.
About VAT, well yes in theory :) AFAIK the toll (both out US and into Europe) do not bother much as far as you don't move with 20 of those. I'll see with my friend.
