Good that you got the photo anyway. These big owls are very impressive birds. I had a Great Horned Owl strike at a field mouse one evening while I was walking in the dusk of Vermont. It dove across my path, just a couple of feet in front of me, I heard a moment's squeek, and then it was off. A silent, dark shape of winged terror ... amazing.
