It's darn hard to keep up with all the replies !!! Thanks for all the comments and compliments. :-) Responding to any specific questions... > From: Bruce Dayton <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > I like it but...It seems extremely contrasty - lots of white - not > quite what I would expect. Would you care to elaborate on the scene > and the processing you did? I'm curious. It is a very gritty rendering. As usual, the fidelity of these downsized JPEG renderings to the full resolution image is not perfect and looks a little bit harsher. All the processing was in Lightroom 1.1 with the exception of a very gentle selective sharpening to the bottom edge of the stairs ... I couldn't get a good compromise that worked with all over sharpening even with LR 1.1's masking, so I rendered a version out to Photoshop and did just that area in a layer. The scene is a piece of the external rear staircase to the main prison cell blocks which is dangerously rotting away now and cordoned off. I liked the interplay of lines, shapes and the gritty texture of its decay. The feel of the prison is bleak and overbearing, yet there is surprising beauty in the light there. It was a place of terrible isolation when it was in operation, I'm sure. I can't imagine being a prisoner in such a place, the psychological impact is beyond my comprehension. best, Godfrey -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
