Tequila, I haven't seen much, being as it is Spain and not Mexico :) The official drink is Kalimotxo, a 50-50 mix of Coca Cola and cheap wine. Don't ask. I have to say I haven't tried it, in five years coming to Pamplona. Other than that there's plenty of beer, sangria, wine, or patxaran, a sweet local liquor. Police will take out of the run anybody who's visibly drunk. Me, I run about fifteen times in the last few years--it's the best way to see it up close, and it's actually possible to graduate the amount of risk you take. Of course, things like today's can happen, but they are rare. As Bob said, it goes back a long time. That's part of the attraction--it's a crazy, dangerous, cruel, primitive and millenary tradition. I'm not sure I see it lasting more than another 100 years or so, and somehow that makes it a bit more interesting.
