Very interesting, I too am putting together a new comp. But in my case it is 
because I just want it. Although the old one is from 1998 if I remember 
correctly. The new one will be a bit faster (gross understatement as it will be 
dual Opterons) when I get it done. It will be awhile though as I have to buy 
the pieces a few at a time.
