Shot with a K10D and F100/2.8 macro. For the pic with the fly I used a simple non-TTL ringflash from ebay. To compensate my caffeine intake I always try to use a monopod and ball head for macro (and switch shake reduction off). I don't use AF with the F100/2.8 and set the lens manually to 1:1 and focus by moving my body. Without a flash I set the camera to drive mode, focus in front of the subject, press the shutter and slowly move the camera forward. Brute (digital) force, with analog I would waste an entire roll of film for every bug.
