Hi Silke,

My preferences are similar to Mike's suggestions but with a slightly wide
angle bias:

If one lens, a fast 35mm or 50mm;
If two lenses, a 35mm and an 85mm;
If three lenses, a 28mm, 50mm, and 100/105mm;
If four lenses, a 20mm, 28mm, 50mm, and 135mm.

I tend to use my Leica M in single lens mode and the lens that it is most
often coupled with it is a 35f1.4 but I would love to experiment with a 28f2 as
a single lens outfit.

Some body/lens combinations tend to feel more comfortable to work with
than the same focal length lenses on other bodies due to the weight balance
and finder peculiarities of the combinations. For instance when I regularly
shot with Contax SLR gear I mostly used a 35f1.4 and 85f1.4 combination
even though I had other lenses these two received the majority of the work.
However I tend to avoid these FLs when using my Pentax LX even though I
have them available they just aren't that comfortable or inspiring.

Cheers,
