On 24/7/07, Bob W, discombobulated, unleashed: >there's an awful lot of spare water lying around. I'm quite envious of >Cotty for getting a helicopter ride over it all. I've been watching >the aerial shots on the news and they're fascinating.
I just spoke to my old neighbour where we used to live 18 months ago on the edge of a field in Northmoor. They have an inch of water through the house! He's 80 and remembers both the floods of 1947 and 1963, and neither were as bad as this. His cottage didn't flood back then. I'm going over there this morning to visit. Worked until 1 am last night watching the Thames at Abingdon reach it's alleged peak at 11pm. Bit bizarre as there was a couple of hundred townsfolk, assorted Environment Agency and fire brigade people, and half a dozen TV news crews, all watching the river like herons. I used to cover Gloucester and know all the areas they're reporting from over there. Did it in 1998 and 2003, especially Upton. They have it much worse than we do. I'll take some stills today and will post later. -- Cheers, Cotty ___/\__ || (O) | People, Places, Pastiche ||=====| http://www.cottysnaps.com _____________________________ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
