Thanks! Well, the flash is working again (I went back and read the bit in the manual that says you have to half press the shutter before the lcd screen will change. I really swear I did that, but it was dark and ... well, maybe I did, and maybe I didn't. Obviously I need much more practice to be able to function in the heat of the moment).
Good luck on your k10d - I am about to send mine off on Monday so I sympathise.
