Funny thing is that all the people on the list complain that Pentax has no professional flagship camera. When Pentax proposes a leading edge camera for today's real professional needs all these same people say their is no way Pentax can sell it for that, I (in my amatuer play at being a photographer status) can not afford that.
The MZ-D at $7K is as I have said a bargin about 2/3 the cost of compariable cameras available right now. It pay for itself in about three months making it a cheap tool. And would put Pentax on the leading edge of todays technology. That in itself would gain Pentax a more serious reputation, which would make you not have to work so hard to overcome the ridicue of those other camera owners. In fact the advertising value alone would make the camera worth while even if Pentax never sold more than a couple of thousand of them. No I can't afford $7K either, but if I was serious about making a living at photogrhy, I couldn't afford not to spend that kind of money. Let's see how many $1000 weddings would I have to do to pay for that? How many $10,000 annual reports? How many $100,000 advertising campaigns? How does that guy down the street pay for that $100,000 digital system he has been using for the last three years? Come on guys, get real! --graywolf ----- Original Message ----- From: Mark Roberts <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, October 30, 2001 2:54 PM Subject: RE: 'analogical' lenses coating an d CCD, not fully compatible? > Leonard Paris wrote: > > >I suspect that Phillips wants more for > >the 6MP CCD than Pemtax is willing to pay. > > Well, the price is ~$1000.00 (U.S.) each in lots of 5000 pieces.
