I got my ebay BIN $49 K1000 today. The camera is in great condition,
it had a leaky battery inside, but the meter came to life when I
cleaned the compartment and put a new battery in. It has the Asahi
logo on the prism, so I guess it is one of the older ones.

The M50/2 that came with it has a nice growth inside, first time I see
real fungus in a Pentax lens. I don't complain though, $49 for a K1000
is not bad and I have a few 50mm lenses already.

So, I'm thinking about using this one as a practice lens. I'll open it
up, try to clean the fungus, put it back together. I'd like to
eventually clean some dust off my M50/1.4 and K55/1.8.

My question is: Will opening the 50/2 help me with the other lenses
later on? Any differences I should keep in mind? Ane general advice?

Or, anyone has a better idea on what to do with a fungusy 50/2?
