I have acquired an MV-1 body. Does anybody know how many Pentaxes are too many? :)
I was given the MV-1 by somebody at work who attempted to part-exchange it for a digicam and discovered that it was worth almost nothing. It will make a great "take it absolutely anywhere without fear" body. It's quite basic (!) For those who don't know this model, it offers aperture priority, 1/100s sync, and B. The viewfinder has a single green dot for shutter speeds from 1/1000s to 1/60s, a yellow one for 1/30s to 1s, and a red one for overexposure (faster than 1/1000s). With a long lens attached, it is very difficult to know if the shutter speed will be fast enough to avoid camera shake. If you're desperate to know you can deduce it by either temporarily changing the ISO setting, or turning the aperture ring, while observing the point at which the light changes from green to yellow. But, and here's the thing, it's BLACK, so it's beautiful (to this beholder), and it's more *professional* than my chrome ME super (tic). Now, if there's anyone still reading, or anyone who has done any M series component swapping, I have a question: I have a ISO/exposure compensation dial from a ME. The MV-1 offers only ISO setting, so I thought that fitting the ME dial to the MV-1 would make a nice improvement. Question is, will it fit? The ME dial has a "prong" underneath it to provide click stops for exposure compensation. Will that cause a problem? I have not disassembled the MV-1 and don't really want to unless I know the ME dial will fit. Can anyone help?
