That is a hard one for these folks to understand.

Actually camera stores as I remember them are few and far between. Decades back
a camera store was run by a shutterbug for shutterbugs. They were not there for
mom to drop off the snapshots of the kids to get developed, those went to the
corner drug store (something else that has all but disappeared). It was a place
for enthusiasts to shop. Want some exotic chemical to mix your own developer
with? They had it. Need a series six to five point five step down ring? They
had it. Want to handle a Hassleblad? They had one in stock.

Then some corporate bean counter types realized there were a lot more moms
shooting the new kid than enthusiasts, and that was the beginning of the end.
The bought out the shutterbug type stores and used the name for a mall store.
Enthusiasts can order from B&H or Freestyle and no need to stock all that
expensive stuff that may only sell in a year or two. Turn over was the name of
the game.

Now the moms are going to Wal-Mart, they have turn over down pat, and the
corporate run mall camera stores are disappearing. But I hardly miss them, they
had very little that I was interested in.
