Glen, I've never seen a Super Program with a worn out LCD screen. I've seen a P5 that had problems, but not ever a Super Program. And that screen stays on all the time, but never drains the battery. (but when you see 000 00 flashing ooo oo in the LCD get fresh batteries) In fact, get a hearing aid battery holder and always carry a spare set. Nothing works without those button cells!
