He was charged with "defilement of a corpse" and other sensational charges. Those charges were dropped "late in the trial" - meaning the DA got his shots in THEN dropped the charges he couldn't prove. > The prosecutor in the case tried to paint him as an older man who was > infatuated with the younger woman and drugged her in order to take > advantage of her. From the Roanoke Times: > Franklin, 19 at the time of her death, modeled for Shell, including > doing bondage shoots and photos. Hours of explicit photos and videos > were shown to the jury over the past few days. They can do that to you. If you're ever in court, you better know it's not about *Truth, Justice and the American Way*, it's about winning ... the prosecutor gets another notch on his gun for when he runs for higher office. And it's not uncommon for a jury to propose, and a judge to impose, punishment for things the defendant wasn't actually convicted of. That's the whole purpose of those charges that get dropped " late in the trial". Bottom line - whether the sentence he gets is fair or not, a 50-something year old man who gets involved with a 19 year old drug user and takes pictures of them doing kinky shit is an idiot. He's ultimately the victim of his own stupidity. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
