I've gotten very good results with the DA 50-200, and the price is right
for the sort of use it sounds like you'd give it (occasional :-) ).  You
might look for one of the F/FA 70/80-200/210 zooms, too.

However, if you foresee using something like that a lot, start your hunt
now for the F* or FA* versions of the 200/2.8, 200/4 macro, or 300/4.5
... I believe those are some of the best telephotos ever made by anyone
for 35mm format.  I have the FA* 200/2.8 and F* 300/4.5 and they're
exceptional both on film and on digital.

Or, if you're looking to spend enough on a lens to buy a small car, you
could seek out the FA* 80-200. :-)  I think someone posted a FS on PDML
for one in the last few days. (1,400 euro if I recall correctly).
