I like both with some reservations: The crop in either works well, although I'd like a little more of his chin in the B&W version.
I see nothing wrong with the color tonality/density. The B&W seems just a bit dark to me ... this is a fair-skinned, blond man with blue eyes, he looks a little too swarthy to my eye in this B&W rendering.
