Well, after a few other people wimped out, it was just Scott and me. No matter, though. It was a =perfect= day for wandering through this fair city and shooting. I was using my K10D, but Scott has reverted to his PZ-1 and Ektachrome 100, so it may be a while before we see his pics!
The gallery: http://photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=766631 We met at 30th St. Station at about 10:30, and wandered over to Rittenhouse Square, where there was an art show (overwhelmingly paintings) and the weekly farmer's market going on. From there to City Hall, the largest all-mansonry structure in the US (maybe in the world), and the grand, rotunda-like lobby of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel (which used to be a bank). By that time we were already feeling a bit peckish, and we pulled into the Nodding Head Brewery for our first two beers of the day (each) and a very good lunch. We headed over to Old City, via the Wanamaker (now Macy's) "Grand Court" and eagle. Strolled the streets, including Elfreth's Alley (the oldest inhabited street in the US), Christ Church, and St. Peter's Church (both of which claim the "founding fathers" as attendees). Then to South St., noted for its weird people and (ummm) eclectic shops. By this time we were getting thirsty again, so we walked somewhat indirectly to the Triumph Brewery, where we downed a couple more beers and Scott fortified himself with fish and chips for the train ride back to Harrisburg. An hour later we parted where we had begun, at 30th St. Station. I had a great time; Scott is an excellent wandering-and-shooting companion, and I'm grateful to him for making the trip! Maybe next year we can lure a few more of you...
