In the "good old days" (and also for a while at its present
address) the archive was updated at frequent intervals during
the day, allowing those who are following the list at work and
theoretically not allowed to receive email from "outside" to
participate in discussions by subscribing with the no-mail
option. This was assisted by the mails being archived in an
order that saw the newest at the top of the page. You could
then shuttle between individual mails and the header page quite
easily. Once the archive gets to more than half a day behind,
it is not possible to keep in touch with discussions. You just
end up sending information and asking questions which have
already be sent/asked.

It _doesn't_ contain mails which are much older. Unlike the
"good old days", the archive falls into cyberspace after about
20 days. Gone. Lost. Never seen again, unless someone has been
kind enough to preserve it on their own machine.

Not the answer to the problems which people are facing. Also
not the answer to the lost archive. (The lost archive of PDML -
do you think Spielberg would be interested???) Grateful as I am
to The Mail Archive people, I am not sure that we are best
served (sorry) by the facility they offer.

Anyone else got any suggestions?
