actually I think it's not quite long enough. 24x36 (and 6x9) is the closest of
the common formats to a golden rectangle - I think this is one of the
reasons why it is such a popular format.

If he'd made it 24x39 we'd have been right there, as near as dammit. 24x38.83281573
is a perfect golden rectangle. The golden ratio is 1:1.618.
