At the same time they changed the port number they also discontinued use of mail.mindspring.com, for the pop server, (that may be back, they're not very consistent about keeping changes once made), which could be used instead of pop.mindspring.com. Guess which one I was using. (Their techs hadn't a clue that the first address had ever been valid).
