At f3.1, (maximum aperture for this lens at 100mm) and 2.6ft, (minimum focus distance), the DOF is about 6.8mm according to my DOF calculator. I focused on the leading edge of the furthest right petal on the semi circular group of petals in the lower right center. I should have probably focused about 3mm further back. I think it's not bad for hand held. The fact that the leading edge of the cupped petals to the lower center right. and the purple-pink tendrils to the left are relatively sharp, (though the rolled up petals at the bottom center may be sharper), is pretty good performance for a lens at it's limits)..
