Shel, As noted in the newsletter you quoted, many of the components in digital cameras by various manufacturers are the same. I think the Canon G1 & G2, several Sonys including the S-75, and Olympus like the C3040, and an Epson all share the same f2.0 Zeiss zoom lens in their 3.1+ megapixel digital cameras. The chips are probably the same too. So about all that is different is the software, display screen, and physical case called the camera body.
It means there isn't much to pick from on the 3.1+ megapixel cameras. Everybody's picture quality should be very similar.
