Indeed. In fact I'm thinking about getting a Garmin GPS unit that also incorporates an MP3 player, and which understands the audio book format.
Mind you, I'll still buy some things on actual CDs - I'm too much of an old fogey to be entirely happy with electronic-only media delivery. And while it takes a little while to rip all sixty-odd CDs of the unabridged Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, you only have to do it once (and find 2.5GB of space for it).
