That quote usually attributed to Barnum was actually said by one of Barnum's competitors about the people who paid to see Barnum's exhibition. I'm not against gambling per se, but I do oppose STATE promotion of gambling as a revenue source. I think there should be state regulation insuring gambling houses are run honestly and any "sin" taxes due on winnings and/or profits are paid.
