When I lived in Atlanta, most pay phones were third party. I learned from hard experience to always use a Bell South payphone if I wanted 1.) to actually get connected, and 2.) get my money back if the connection failed. Otherwise the recourse was to call an 800 number that wasn't ever answered to give the time and place where I was cheated to possibly get a check issued for my 50ยข.
