Chromatic aberration, smc PENTAX 1:8 1000mm @ f/8. Star in the Orion (point source). You are seeing individual pixels (highly cropped).
This is why we shoot with filters, red, green & blue and focus for each one. http://www.bob.blakely.com/Chroma.gif ----- When I got my first Pentax SLR as a teenager in 1966, oh how I dreamed of that lens. Just the idea of it captured my fancy. I'm dreaming now of an A* 1200 F8. I don't care it it produces CA with stars. In the meantime I have the F* 600 F4 and the A 2XL. Still, if I saw that 1000 come up for sale, I'd be tempted. Just to live out a youthful fantasy. Oh, and I fantasized about girls and cars too.
