I have a beautiful double-trunk Liquid Amber or Sweet Gum in my back
yard! Maybe 50 feet tall.
Every two or three years I have a guy trim it all around and thin it
out; and every other time, top it.
He takes maybe 6 to 10 feet off both major trunks.
It's roots do raise havoc with my waste water drain line that traverses
my backyard too... but, I am NOT getting rid of that Sweet Gum!

Still green, it hasn't been cold enough yet for the leaves to turn, but
when they DO, it's impressive!
