Great book. I don't know of much that is specifically about photographers and WWs 1 & 2, but here are some recommendations for books and memoirs about journalists (including photographers) at war, or particularly fine writing about war: Philip Knightley "The First Casualty" Nicholas Rankin "Telegram from Guernica" Don McCullin "Unreasonable Behaviour" Marinovich & Silva "The Bang-Bang Club" Copaken Kogan "Shutterbabe" George Rodger "Desert Journey" Richard Harding Davis "Moments in Hell" Tim O'Brien "If I Die in a Combat Zone" Orwell "Homage to Catalonia" Evelyn Waugh "Sword of Honour" I've also found the "Mammoth Book of Eyewitness...." series to be surprisingly good. I've used them as books to read on holiday because they are collections of different eyewitness accounts of historical events. As a result they are very immediate, with excellent writing, but easily putdownable because each account can be read quite quickly. Also, the eyewitnesses are usually having a much worse time than I am, so that always makes me feel better. They have titles like "Mammoth Book of Eyewitness WWII" "...Fighter Pilots", "...WW1" etc. There is also a very good companion series of "Mammoth Book of How It Happened: ..." which are equally good.
