The word professional has changed in meaning over the past
several decades.  At one time there weren't a lot of professions
because there had to be a clear path to a professorship in the
career field to be one.  Now, all one has to do to be considered
a professional is to earn a living doing whatever it is that he
does.  Professionals had college/university degrees to work
through in order to gain the level of being a professional.
But, hell, you all knew that.  You're all just baiting me to get
me to state the obvious.  I've got to quit being so easily led
to foolishness. :(
