No offense, Bruce, but I'm not surprised that didn't make it. It's a very nice shot, but beautiful sunset/landscape shots are so widely represented that one has to be something *really* special to make it. The crescent moon is a nice touch but not enough to elevate it over the thousands of other beautiful, well-composed, well-exposed sunset shots out there (especially considering it's going to be displayed at a size of approximately 540 x 360). One trick I find useful is to shrink my own image to thumbnail size (say, 45 x 60 pixels) before deciding to submit. Most of what you see in the Gallery shows up as a recognizable image of some sort even at that size. No, it isn't universal -- I've seen some that are virtually unrecognizable as thumbnails -- but the majority seem to hold to this rule of thumb. I call this the Stenquist/Cassino property :) Just look at their photos in the Gallery and you'll see strong compositions that contain elements that show up even in the thumbnails. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
