The optical quality is quite good - AF is normal for me - I've not noticed any issues to speak of - it has been used with an *istD and K10D. As far as ruggedness goes, after the first year, a screw came loose inside the zooming mechanism. It had to be sent in for repair. I have used it for 3 seasons of little league baseball action shooting. The lens has been used for more shots than all my other lenses combined - somewhere near 30,000 frames. So it has been pretty good. At the time I purchased it and even today, there is not another choice in this range. I needed something with very good optical quality that could reach out to at least 300mm and be constant at least to F4. So I am happy with it and will continue to use it until it finally dies. -- Best regards, Bruce Wednesday, December 12, 2007, 1:13:46 PM, you wrote: BJ> Bruce, BJ> Looking at your baseball photo, I am impressed by the quality of the BJ> Sigma lens.
