I can't speak for others, but my dislike for Canada geese (in particular) is that they've become "too successful" as an urban species. Their numbers have proliferated in recent decades, and due to a warming climate in this part of the world, many of them no longer migrate, meaning that many of them now winter here. They hang around the suburbs and beaches and parks in the thousands. They're big, mean, strong and they bite. They soil the landscape with their droppings, with the resulting toxic health hazard. They're brazen and nasty. They're a cross between pigeons and rats, but way bigger. I used to like Canada Geese back when they flew overhead spring and fall, and stayed in rural areas for the summer. Now that they've made cities their home, with their large numbers, they're vermin. cheers, frank -- "Sharpness is a bourgeois concept." -Henri Cartier-Bresson -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
