They are not manufactured anymore and Pentax US has probably only a couple left if any.

I recall when Pentax let the *ist DS go out of stock several months before they had the K100D and K10D to sell. All they had for a few months was the DL. Then there is the perennial underestimations of demand...lenses, cameras, filters, you name it. So far Hoya hasn't improved these problems.
