A few years ago,  a friend wanted a compact camera.  She liked the  
look and feel of my Sony W-1 that I own.  I got that camera because  
it has an optical VF and a 2.5 inch screen.  The main selling point  
for me was that it uses AA batteries, that, as you know,  are  
available almost everywhere.  I suppose the only drawback to the Sony  
is that it uses Sony's proprietary Memory Stick,  not the more common  
SD card that other digicams are using for storage.  The W-1 isn't  
made anymore.  I got mine used from KEH.  Other models were the W-5  
and W-7.  The 1 and 5 are 5 megapixels and the 7 is 7 megapixels.
