It was cloudy in North Texas also. I drove out to the country anyway,
to a fairly dark sky spot I had researched earlier. No luck with the
clouds clearing out. I only saw two streaks - nothing I could
photograph.

I had one interesting experience. I was at a lake, standing a bit away
from the car. It was pretty dark. I could just make out a tree line
about a hundred yards away. All of a sudden the wildest noise
imaginable startled the heck out of me. After a moment, I realized it
was a pack of howling coyotes chasing down some unlucky prey, or
fighting amongst themselves.

The coyotes didn't come any closer to me, though. Lucky for them - ha!
I was wielding a sturdy Tilt-All tripod, a Pentax LX, and a large
blueberry Danish. Pity the coyote who messed with me!
