What John said plus, if you are still on the last firmware revision, it is 
possible to access a menu in the firmware that allows the auto focus to be 
adjusted (a software bias, not a hardware fix). I made use of it and was 
able to improve the overall AF of my K10.

Note to Pentax: Better quality control in this area would be nice. There is 
no reason other than poor QC for a camera to have out of adjustment AF out 
of the box.
