First I tought to buy her a digital, but I saw many times (and experienced the same on myself too :D) that with digital the photographer is not that carefull with composing the picture, because the results will be visible immediately and if the picture is not good enough they can make a second (third... :D) shot. But with film cameras you have to concentrate when doing the shot and may even have to wait for the perfect shot. So that's why I tought it will be better for her to learn with film, so she will learn how composing is important and the rest (getting correct exposure, focusing etc) is just secondary. In my opinion a little underexposed, little prefocused shot with a perfect composition is better than a technically perfect picture with boring composition :D. I believe if she would start with digital and Auto Everything she could make great pictures earlier but with film and manual lenses she will learn more and could make greater pictures later :D
First I tought to buy her a K100D Super (it's price is quite low and I don't really trust in used digital equipment...), but a few days ago I can't get the K20D out of my head :D So I think it's better to give her my K10D than sell it and buy a used DS. Probably I will buy her a Pentax 18-250 so she don't have to trouble with changing lens too often. .t Bob Sullivan wrote: > t, > >From personal experience with film and my kids, buy her a digital.
