One of the sights I plan to see in Plovdiv next week is a monument named "Aliosha" or something like that (Anglicized, obviously). My Bulgarian friend tells me it's a "Tomb of the Unknowns". It's adorned by a statue of a WWII era Soviet infantry non-com or officer holding what appears to be a PPSh from the photos I've seen. I guess it could be a regular private soldier, but IIRC the Sovs didn't usually let less trusted soldiers than non-coms have automatic weapons unless they were crew served. -- Thanks, DougF (KG4LMZ) -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
