No, I don't think there is anything wrong with your LX.
What you describe is standard operating procedure.
The LX reads off the film.
Mine often seems a bit longer than it said on the meter,
when shooting at 1/2 sec or slower.

Go shoot some film in the dark and stop worrying!
And remember, the LX is smarter than the MZ-M.
