Cotty is to normal people as normal people are to Hobbits. Except he wears his lunch on his head. In thinking about Cotty's edible headwear I formed a mental picture of a type of segmented bun, somewhat like a brioche which his hat closely resembles, only floppier. So I googled, hoping for a picture of the aforementioned class of bun. I didn't find one, but I did find US Patent 5897900, which has boggled my mind: "An edible bun having a substantially elongated configuration. [...] The lower compartment is typically adapted to receive a sausage [...] The male shaping members are adapted to be inserted inside the corresponding female mold recesses when the lid portion is superposed on the base portion. Each male shaping member and its corresponding female mold recess is adapted to create a mold cavity for forming a bun [...]" ...and no doubt the bun goes in the oven. Can't imagine why anyone would want to put one of those in their mouth.
