Somewhat of an awkward pose, but you take what you get. I like the composition. What lens did you use? Is this full frame?
I ran your image thru CS2 & using shadow/highlight adjustment, I get good detail in the feathers, which I don't see in the posted image. I think a good shot of this bird requires detaul in the feathers. I've had more opportunities in the last few years (in Michigan) to capture eagle images, than I've had in the prior 25 or so years. However by the time I get set up they're gone. I Shot several frames two weeks ago of an eagle in a tree, but these were hand held & turned out not to be keepers.
