Marcus: I'm not the best one to talk equipment, but I did want to throw a vote for the DA* 50 - 135, which I own, and I like the lens quite a bit. It's quiet, smooth, & 2.8 across the zoom range is very nice to have. It is a bit heavy, but with practice, I'll get better at hand-holding. Weight probably is not an issue for you.
