My whole point (I think) in this discussion is if you want the BEST image possible, and that is the primary consideration, I don't think a digital filmless camera is the way to go yet.
If there are other considerations which weigh in on the other side, then digital by all means can be the answer for many people. My primary consideration right now is the highest quality first generation image.
