Epson Ultra Premium Luster prints superbly in both BW and color with the Photo Black ink set. It's just a slight luster, a very nice finish and it gives great detail. Velvet Fine Art is a watercolor-like stock with a bit of tooth. It prints with the Matte Black ink and renders beautifully in both BW and color. The R2400 is infinitely superior to the 1270. particularly with BW. You will learn to love it. BTW, I switch ink sets and use both papers. But I try to plan ahead. I generally switch only after ten prints or so. And the nozzle setup routine isn't a full cleaning as far as I can tell. It doesn't seem to use a lot of ink. Enjoy.
