The blast furnace in the upper left has just been re-activated after its
yet not so definite shut-down in 2005.

By 2003, the end of the entire liquid phase in Liège had been planned
for 2009. Now, master Mittal happens to be short of a good million tons
of steel per year and the two blast furnaces as well as the LD steel
mill have been saved for at least another 5 years. Some 10,000 jobs
altogether. There's been an enormous sigh of relief in this area where
unemployment is already in the order of 20 percent.

In the foreground on the right the 60 megawatt electric furnace of
Ellwood Steel Belgium is being discharged and one clearly sees the
stream of liquid steel.

As always, your comments and suggestions... :-)
