We're so quick to complain when things are not to our liking, whether concerns Pentax or not (Climate change, anyone? <g,d & r>). So I'd just like to put a couple of thumbs up for the changes made to the gallery voting page lately.
It is a major change that has been undertaken. The previous version was programmed using HTML, CSS and Javascript. The present version is all Flash, which is a significant step forward. Please don't iterate all the Flash-bashing here if you don't spend any time with the gallery, viewing or voting. Personally I'm quite tired of those arguments now. What they have accomplished with the new version is: The full-size view is back, so now you can choose to look at the image as it will appear in the gallery again. The full-size images are no longer loaded at the same time as the thumbnails. Thus, the load-speed of the thumbnail page is up by a factor of 10 or thereabouts. It is no longer possible to extract additional information from the shown images. In previous versions, it was possible to look at the EXIF data of the presented images, and thus reveal the photographer, for example, if the Copyright field was filled in. Since Photoshop can be set up to fill this in automatically, many have, and left it there. By using Flash instead of presenting the image directly, this is avoided. Thus it brings the voting to more equal terms for all.
