So I assume you have tried the manual focusing option on all these cameras that have that option? Kent Gittings

I mentioned it earlier, and will again. Stay away from any "electronic SLR" ! Dimage 5, Dimage 7, Fuji 4900, 6900, Camedia 700, Camedia 2100, E-100rs, they all use ABSOLUTELY SHITTY electronic lcd finder. Remember the old VHS or HI-8 moviecam you shot your first born? Just the same finder. That means you can't focus manually with it (I know, I have used proffessional moviecams with great finders. They don't use colour finders. They have ALL B&W finders, and the finder assembly only costs about as much as a whole VHS moviecam), the are grainy, pixelated and you can't even see some more fine features (like eye position in portrait, etc). And your eyes ache after looking through them for any longer time (because your eyes strain themselves trying to focus on an LCD which can't be focused on, because it offers simultaneously three planes of focus, red, green and blue, none of them sharp enough. Yes, I adjusted diopter control well for my eyes. Again, stay away from electronic eye viewfinders! They might do good for a VHS moviecam, but they are ill-suited for a still camera. All the mentioned digicams have great features, I wanted to buy the Camedia 2100, but after learning it has an LCD viewfinder, I stopped even considering it.
