Bill:

My quarter's worth would be to say that it comes down to learning how your
flash works. When I carried an ME-Super and did a lot of party pictures, I
used a Vivitar flash (I think it was a Vivitar 3500) that I liked a lot
because it had 3 colored dots that you used to indicate the approximate feet
to subject distance. It seemed pretty efficient when I set it up correctly.
I now use the onboard flash with my PZ-1 which seems to be somewhere between
adequate and good, depending on how much I think before using it. If you are
going to be doing a lot of grab photos, you might consider Tri-X which has a
lot of latitude. A good lab can save your bacon.
